Fix stuttering video audio on iTunes under Windows 8
I just bought an HD movie on iTunes, and much to my chagrin, I wasn’t able to watch it. The video was OK, but the audio was out of sync, and constantly stuttering.
Here’s the solution:
- Control Panel -> Sound
- Right click the speakers you’re using, hit “properties”.
- Click the “advanced” tab.
- Choose “24-bit 44100Hz”
Mine was set to 19200Hz, and that was the problem!
For reference – I have a Xonar DX. The PCM setting in the Xonar application didn’t make a difference – it had to be changed in windows, as per above.
I have no clue how you figured this out, but it resolved my problem milliseconds before I was about to throw the computer through the window. You clearly rock.
Ah, thanks! Fixed my issue. I was set to 16-bit 44100Hz for some reason. Switched to 24-bit 44100Hz and it resolved the issue. Was really annoying me for a few days.
